RELATED: God of War Ragnarok: Raider Hideout Nornir Chest Guide (Midgard)

One of these locations is The Oarsmen, where players will stumble across one of God of War Ragnarok’s 35 Nornir Chests. It’s up in the north of the realm not too far from where Atreus goes to meet Freya during Chapter 3. Opening the chest will require players to ring three bells within quick succession of one another, though gaining access to one of them is far from easy.

How to Unlock The Oarsmen Nornir Chest

After clearing out the raiders and activating the Mystic Gateway, players can take a moment to look around the area. They’ll quickly see that the first bell that they need is in a crevasse to the right of the Mystic Gateway, while another is sat opposite on the right-hand side. To find the last bell, however, they’ll need to head to the far wall and climb up a ledge, though they may want to prepare themselves before they do.

Immediately after climbing up, players will be faced with a Stalker mini-boss, which is accompanied by a couple of raiders. Players should focus on dealing with the raiders first, using Kratos’ Blades of Chaos to tear through their defenses and then disposing of them however they best see fit. After that, they should switch to the Draupnir Spear and use it to target the Stalker’s horns, as hitting them while they are glowing will lead to her being stunned and vulnerable to prolonged attacks.

Once the Stalker has been taken care of, players can climb the gold chain and then drop down a ledge to find a large metal chain. Pulling this chain will grant access to the other side of the chamber containing the Nornir Chest, where they can use their companion’s Sonic Arrows to break away a piece of wood exposing the final bell. Once they’ve done so, they can open the gate to get back to the part of the chamber with the chest.

From here, it’s a simple case of using Kratos’ Leviathan Axe to quickly hit all three bells, being sure to hit the one with the rune that looks like a lowercase n on it last due to it having a noticeably shorter ring. Assuming they’re fast enough, the seal on the Nornir Chest will be broken, allowing players to claim the reward inside. If they’ve opened fewer than 30 chests it will contain an Idunn Apple or a Horn of Blood Mead. Otherwise, players will get some Hacksilver or some other sellable item like Shattered Runes.

God of War Ragnarok is available now for PS4 and PS5.
