New Game+ has long been tradition for the God of War franchise, but the 2018 God of War game launched without the feature. Some time after launch, Sony Santa Monica released a free update for the 2018 God of War game to add New Game+. Considering this, many God of War fans assumed that Ragnarok would get a New Game+ mode at some point as well, though they did not have official confirmation until now.

Sony’s Santa Monica Studio has confirmed that God of War Ragnarok will get New Game Plus in Spring 2023. Unfortunately, more details on what God of War Ragnarok New Game+ will entail are unavailable at the time of this writing. At minimum, one would imagine that it will allow gamers to go back through on the same difficulty with their gear and upgrades intact, but it would be nice if it allowed players to crank up the difficulty as well.

God of War Ragnarok has multiple difficulty settings for players to choose from, including the ultra-challenging Give Me God of War mode. If New Game Plus in God of War Ragnarok allows players to change difficulty settings, then more players should be able to make their way through the hardest difficulty. There are some games that don’t allow players to play New Game+ on different difficulties, but since God of War Ragnarok currently lets players change difficulties any time they’d like, it’s hard to imagine such a restriction will be in place for this particular game.

More information on the God of War Ragnarok New Game+ mode will come next year, but many fans are likely happy just knowing that the mode is on the way for sure. If nothing else, it will give them the perfect excuse to relive God of War Ragnarok’s epic story.

God of War Ragnarok is out now for PS4 and PS5.
