Valkyrie Entertainment had recently joined PlayStation Studios, which was announced in December 2021, and is a video game development studio from Seattle. The studio is known for supporting popular games, such as League of Legends, Halo Infinite, Middle of Earth: Shadow of War, Forza Motorsport 7, and God of War 2018, as well as the upcoming God of War Ragnarok. In God of War 2018, Valkyrie Entertainment was responsible for the main HUB, bringing Fimbulwinter to the lake of nine, and the ending. However, while being a co-lead developer to Santa Monica in God of War, it seems that the studio will have an even bigger role to play in the development of Ragnarok, which could be due to how important the Fimbulwinter occurrence will be to the God of War sequel.

Fimbulwinter is a prophesied three-year episode that takes place in Midgard that serves as a warning of the oncoming Ragnarok, and Ragnarok is the world ending event that is known to destroy the nine realms. The Fimbulwinter event had begun at the end of God of War, so players will witness what comes after, as the title suggests, in God of War Ragnarok.

It was already reported that Valkyrie Entertainment will continue development in Ragnarok, but further information now reveals that the studio will be contributing even more to God of War Ragnarok than its predecessor, while before Valkyrie’s contribution amount to Ragnarok was unknown. According to a LinkedIn page of an employee of Valkyrie Entertainment, the studio is developing “quite a few” of the levels.

This is one of the most anticipated games coming out in the coming months of 2022 with even Ragnarok being the next game Head of Xbox Phil Spencer is looking forward to playing, so having solid studios working on God of War Ragnarok is critical. Valkyrie Entertainment is a proven studio, and the more contribution that it’s in charge of should entice players for what’s to come. Fans can expect more information on the game in the coming weeks before its release.

God of War Ragnarok releases November 9 for PS4 and PS5.
