As explained by Santa Monica Studio’s Community Strategist, Aaron Kaufman, those who want to partake in God of War’s New Game Plus mode will “need to complete the story campaign . . . on any difficulty.” After that, the feature will be available once players have then patched the game with the New Game Plus update as well.

For those unaware as to what New Game Plus will bring to God of War, it will provide players with a host of new gear, enemies that are much more difficult to defeat, and the ability to skip any of the game’s cinematics. According to Kaufman, not only will the forthcoming patch be the “biggest update to God of War” yet, but also it has been inspired by player feedback, so it will be interesting to see how the fan base reacts when it goes live.

All things considered, it’s great to see Santa Monica Studio following through with yet another solid piece of post-launch support for God of War, as director Cory Barlog initially wasn’t promising New Game Plus would even make it into the title. So, with the sequel already in the planning phases, it’s safe to say that plenty of players will be using New Game Plus as a way to hone their skills in anticipation for the next entry in the franchise.

God of War is available now for PlayStation 4.
