The Goat Simulator 3 Summer Game Fest cinematic announcement trailer started with an unsuspecting speed walker putting in their earbuds and smiling. As they exercised down the pier, a small army of actual goats appeared behind them, acting out an increasing amount of chaos. Goats headbutt unsuspecting pedestrians. Goats shoot rocket launchers. Goats use telepathy to increase the size of human heads to enormous proportions. Needless to say, these goats have an arsenal of fun new toys at hand.

Those unfamiliar with the Goat Simulator experience will be excited to hear that the game offers a sandbox experience for players to create endless mayhem. Mayhem is more fun with friends, so Goat Simulator 3 will offer up to four-player co-op both locally and through online multiplayer. Also new in the sequel is an array of mini-games that goats can play together.

That’s not it for new features in Goat Simulator 3, of course. Another component teased in Goat Simulator 3’s announcement screenshots is the ability to play as different animals. It may be sacrilege to stray from the holy goat protagonist, but developer Coffee Stain North is doing it anyway. Other playable animals include a chubby pig, a powerhouse rhinoceros, and a wobbly-necked giraffe, all with their tongues hanging out, naturally.

Before anyone goes crazy trying to figure out if they missed the release of Goat Simulator 2, there’s no need to worry. In proper Goat Simulator fashion, the developers at Coffee Stain are pulling a Naked Gun and have skipped a number. It may solely be a joke or maybe a prototype of Goat Simulator 2 exists that Coffee Stain has shelved to never be seen by the public eye. Either way, Goat Simulator 3 will be a direct follow-up to the original Goat Simulator.

While a release date for Goat Simulator 3 hasn’t been revealed yet, Coffee Stain is sure to be sharing more information in the months to come. Goats are just the beginning of Goat Simulator 3.

Goat Simulator 3 launches in the fall of 2022 for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.
